Frequently Asked Questions

How do realtors get paid?

Most Realtors are small business owners, and work 100% on commission. This means we are not on any kind of salary, and only get paid if we close the sale of a property. The time we spend showing you homes, preparing Comparative Market Analyses, writing and negotiating offers, etc, is not paid until you move into or out of your home. While there are some salaried agents out there, they are working for large corporations, where volume is valued over the individual.

Do I need to work with just one Realtor?

Yes! Just as I will make a commitment to you, and make your real estate needs a priority, I need loyalty from you. As mentioned above, I only get paid when my clients close. We will meet in person, and together we will decide if we are a good fit. If for any reason we shouldn't work together, I will refer you to a Realtor whose personality and market specialty matches your needs. If we decide to work together, we will sign an Agency Agreement to protect both of us. If another agent tries to "poach" you, please understand they are breaking the Realtor Code of Ethics, and they are not trustworthy.

What's the first thing I should do if I want to buy a home?

You will need to speak to a mortgage lender if you will be financing the purchase of a home. I can help you find a great local lender who will work with you to determine your house budget and get you set up a with pre-approval letter. I will send you my buyer's booklet so you know what to expect during the whole home buying process.

What's the first thing I should do if I want to sell my home?

You should call me! I will come out to your home to evaluate it's readiness for the market and suggest steps you can take to sell for the highest price in the shortest time. I will provide you with a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA), checklists and booklets that outline how to prepare and what to expect throughout the whole sale process.
